The Binding Divide debut their single ‘Finding Forever’
Former members of THE DEV are armed with a new front woman and they are turning heads
If you were passionate about the metal music scene in Florida the last few years you were probably hearing about and listening to a band called THE DEV. Established in 2019 this group of talented musicians was churning out singles and making a name for themselves on the festival circuit including playing at Welcome To Rockville in 2021 and Louder Than Life in 2022. After parting ways with their lead singer in 2024, the band took some time to reformulate and decide exactly the next direction that they wanted to pursue. They had put out an ad for a vocalist under the name THE DEV a long time ago, and that ad lingered online and low and behold someone answered it when the band needed it most, and that’s when they met Alysa Abreu. The ad had read:

This would be the final piece in the formation of The Binding Divide. The amalgamation of Ryan Danley – Guitar, John Panaccione – Bass and Chris Caruso – Drums (all from THE DEV) finally had someone to front the formation and what they got was magic. Ryan was on a podcast called Rock the Catbox talking about how Alysa came in and it all clicked. He described their first meeting: “We jammed with her, and her voice blew us all away. She was just so talented, and she was just such a cool and grounded person that it sparked a hugelight in us”.

He spoke further on not becoming a replicant of their former selves, had already featured a frontwoman. Ryan had scribed the music for a track and handed it to their newest teammate, and she came back the next day with the lyrics to ‘Finding Forever’. The single dropped on March 10th and is already garnishing attention. It’s a little lighter than what we have heard from the previous group, but Ryan promises us something harder and something with a European Rock flair forthcoming. Their current statement via their press kit now reads:
4 stars aligned.
-Passion & determination brought us together to create a unique
brand of HARD ROCK / METAL.
-Influences vary but our diversity, talent & creativity play out in
a most unique way.
-Stay awhile. Join the journey.
Be inspired to feel something past the shallow digital facade.
-Lose yourself in the melody & music.
Escape in the moment.
‘Finding Forever’ is very engaging, and the production is layered nicely with Alysa’s voice pushed forward to really showcase her soulful tonality. The bassline and drums lead the song into a steady gait, and the writing follows to create a beautiful segment of art. The words draw the listener in with lovely storytelling before the one-minute mark with a familiar relationship thought, “I don’t know what you expect me to do/ I am losing myself in you/ And I don’t know what you expect me to say/ And I’m going crazy, crazy”. There is carefully placed chaos that sonically pounds from underneath the prose and builds to the next set of lexicon in, “What am I gonna do when you’re stuck in my veins/ going straight to my heart and my brain/ You are the only truth/ I know it/ finding you/ I think I’m finding forever”.

After those lines, which become the refrain, Chris and Alysa join forces to navigate an up-tempo groove of vocals and percussion that propel the song into its next chapter. The melody has shifted slightly so that our singers sound can be showcased. Chris pops the kit in a way that reflects the pace of the vocalization and an astounding sound is provided that functions with a lovely result.
It’s at three minutes that a belting guitar solo from Ryan rips in with an electric boost that amps the overall concept into a bigger cadence. His solo in this place has found a home within the other players. His guitar ebbs and flows with a brightness and cleanliness that accents what we have heard so far in the euphonious interlude. Everyone then meets back within a minute to bring the orchestral composition to its conclusion. A double tracking of Alysa harmonizing with herself towards the end of ‘Finding Forever’ shows the gifted mixing of this project as well.

There is a buzz around this band and their fans of old and new hope for a full length album and tour by the end of 2026, but no pressure. The Blinding Divide has big promise after their debut track and the work that follows is sure to match the intesity and drive of its members. Anticipate more from them in the next few months and be sure to follow them on their socials, streaming and YouTube.
