TreeHouse Nash Queen, Mar Lamar has an Album in the Works
Join the Nashville Artist and Help Her Accomplish Her Dream
Melinoe Introspection:
Welcome Ghouls, Demons and Fellow Wyrd Ones! Today we spotlight Mar Lamar! Our TreeHouse Nash Queen. I met Mar Lamar back in March when I covered my second Rock Oracle article (Check out Rock Oracle’s Article on TreeHouse Nash!) I instantly became a huge fan of her community movement. Spoiler alert: She is an Aquarius and I love how her artistic foundation is enmeshed within community and those Uranus/ 11th House themes. We’ve connected through the social media realm ever since. I enjoy her expressions online. I found great inspiration within her essence. Is this because of the shared Aquarian destiny within our energy field? Our shared philanthropy? Or our love for music? Probably all of the above, and more! Mar Lamar most certainly has initiated me into various aspects of this new cycle along my personal journey. Getting to know her during TreeHouse Nash’s show at Rosemary Schultz’ house was a breath of fresh air and an electric shock igniting immense ideas for myself and for Rock Oracle.

This leads into the Sol purpose Artist Spotlight. Not only do I want our readers to know more about her and TreeHouse Nash, Mar Lamar is Crowd Funding her next Album. A solo project that is near and dear to her heart. Listening to her passion, and witnessing her vulnerability within her content humbled me to say the least. I have found a new awareness within how much of my own passion and vulnerability I have kept buried beneath my surface. A fear that continues to lurk within my young/naive phase of life. A commonality for Aquarian folks. Often priding myself at how open I can be, not realizing that there could be so much more of myself I could offer to the world. Not for myself. Not solely for humanity. But for the Circle of Life. The give and take that is required for evolution, progression and harmony within society, civilization, and more intimate communities. Mar Lamar has granted me a gift of evolution spiritually, astrologically and creatively. I am sure if she has left this impactful of a mark on my soul, she will most certainly grant the same gift to you all. Whether through her presence, her social media expressions, her various mediums of art or her music. Mar Lamar has SO much to offer this world, and the individuals that are guided into her path.

All of Us here at Rock Oracle find it absolutely necessary to endorse Mar Lamar. Please Support any way you see fit for your individual situation. We invite you to Donate to the Crowd Fund, Share Her GiveButter Link, Follow her Socials, Play/Listen to her Music and Witness a TreeHouse Nash Event!
With that, I want to add a depth to the personal insights Mar Lamar’s presence has granted for me. Everything I do as Melinoe (Sarah), Wyrd Curations, Rock Oracle and all the above, is fueled by passion to live life to my creative fullest. For those who witness my works, you may notice the overwhelming amount of whimsy I pour into everything I create and achieve. Before I was blessed with my Dreamiest of Life Partners, All I Loved, I Loved Alone. All I Created, I Created Alone. I find that to be the case with most Artists. The support systems can be few and far between. Most of us are One Man Bands or One Woman Shows. Which is not to diminish any support from family, friends and other community resources. The financial obligation required to create is a harsh reality for most folks. And here in America, it is becoming even more difficult to support our daily lives, let alone fund an extravagant work of art. I have always found that the mainstream disconnects from reality. Once you make it Big and Sell your Soul to the Devils within the Industry, most celebrities and famous artists/musicians forget what it takes to make it in this world. Especially with the rise of Nepo Baby Creatives over saturating the markets and stomping out the little guy. The little guy who probably hasmore heart and talent than anyone spoon-fed an opportunity. As well, I do not want to sound too bitter. The ultimate goal for us all would be to allow our children (future generations) to have it easier than we had it. I don’t want to shame any hardworking creative/entertainer who fought their way to the top, and created a safe path for their children to pursue their dreams. I could only be so lucky to create that path for my family, loved ones and fellow artists. However, I do find that some hardship and struggle makes or breaks a genuine dream. If something is too easy, most folks don’t respect or appreciate their situation enough. I do tend to believe in the spiritual philosophy of the adversary. That you will be tested to see how much you actually want what it is you are desiring, manifesting and praying for.

Which leaves me with a question to all of you pursing your dreams. How badly do you want it? Well, over my years of fighting for my right to party, I have found that I do want it gravely. I am sure most of us do. However, I do not want anything at the expense of my authenticity, autonomy nor my humanity. Those principles create for an even longer, more intense path to “success.” There are many failed lessons along that path. Many of which bruise the ego, destroy one’s pride, and leave you stripped of all self importance. Arguably all necessary for growth. More and more we have people willing to self sacrifice, or sacrifice the love or innocence of others to achieve success. A Nightmare and Hellish Reality we have created in our Human World. I am not sure how that leads us towards progress, evolution or utopia. Yet, witnessing such horrors, I have tapped into a seed to plant. All thanks to the vulnerability of Mar Lamar.
I found great Insights of Inspiration within her ability to be Brave, and to not freeze in the fear of asking for help. Something I struggle with more than anything in this world. I want My Flowers, My Recognition and My Legacy. As I am sure we all do to some extent. There is so much individualism within my essence. I suppose another internal struggle of the Aquarian Plane of Existence. Power for All the People, and an Emphasis on Individualism?! How do we Harmonize that contradiction? Well, I believe it begins with the Love and Empathy for Diverse, Complex Souls. Even the souls we tend to disagree with. I believe it begins with Artists leaning on one another to make their artistic works happen, instead of begging for the Machine to give them Crumbs of Carrots. Most friends and family will support an artist they don’t know before they support one who stands right next to them. I find that to be a painful flaw of our current culture, and perhaps a symptom of our human conditioning. I do my best to find ways to support the Artists who Cross my Path. I host a Wyrd Community Page (Free of Charge! If you want to join Submit Here: https://www.wyrdcurations.com/contact) in hopes that others can find bridges to new Artists through my Art.

I want a Web of Wyrd Creativity. I desire a Creative World/Society for us all. I do not want Life to be exclusive. We all were Born, we were all Created, and We all Deserve to Live a Free life. A life enmeshed within our Soul Purpose. I find that the loophole in achieving such success is within the collaboration, not within the selfishness. And this lifestyle most certainly is not to be reserved for the 1%. To Rebel against our Culture would be to Unite with One Another. There are free ways to support the Underground. There are free ways to build a culture, a community of creativity. These free avenues may be all you can do in the moment, however, you never know where those rivers may flow. You never know the abundance of fruit those seeds will grow, unless you give them a chance. I firmly believe we can shift our society into balance, by believing in ourselves and believing in the talents of others. We can dismantle the systems of indentured servitude programmed within us all. It begins by shifting our choices within ourselves, and the division we create through harmful competition. Mother Earth is Abundance. She always provides. We all have our right to existence, our right to create. Instead of living in limitation, scarcity and fear, choose the inconvenience of taking a leap of faith on those who inspire you. Every layered brick has their place, and serves their purpose. Embrace your role within the world. Support someone else’s role in this timeline. It will take one step at a time to heal all of these wounded paradigms within the collective psyche, and no this change won’t occur over night. Yet, we can Initiate it. One Artist at a time. One Act of Kindness. One Word of Love.

We cannot be embarrassed, nor afraid, to ask for support. If the Kingdom of Heaven is within us? Then we must grant ourselves permission to be, and quit searching for something outside of ourselves. As well, in return, we must grant others the permission to be themselves. If we want a World, a Community, a Culture and a Life of our Dreams, we must first Embody it. To create Heaven on Earth, we must come together. We must believe in the artist next door. We must Surrender to the ebb and flow of Give and Take within Universal Law. Collectively We Stand! Divided we Will Fall.
Interview With Mar Lamar:
Would you mind giving us a brief History of Your Music/Band that you feel is most important to highlight within this article? Potential fun facts about your music name/pseudonym if applicable.
I was in a band for 14 years. My partner in the band moved away, and simultaneously, I was giving birth to my second child and wanted to take a break from it all. I am back now with this solo project (Mar Lamar), making what I truly want to make. The name is a mix of my name (Marissa, my closest family and friends call me “Mar”, and my late grandmother’s stage name (Maria Lamar). She was a dancer in New York and was always encouraging me to express myself creatively. She would have been really proud of the art I’ve made, and I wanted to pay homage to her and her legacy.
Where are you/the band from? And/or where do y’all currently reside?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I’ve lived in Nashville for 5 years though!
What prompted you to move? Perhaps dive into why it was the best decision for yourself or others to leave and pursue your dreams. I want to paint an accurate and detailed picture for the audience on what it means to have lived life through your lens and the journey you have taken for your music and art.
We originally moved because of music, but I truly love LA and always will. The music community there was welcoming and incredibly supportive of independent musicians, at least that was my experience. The pull to Nashville was partly due to a management/distribution deal my band had at the time. They wanted us to tour this area, and living here made the most sense. Unfortunately, none of that came to fruition due to covid (we signed in 2019), but my husband and I fell in love with this area and stayed.
What are your goals and big picture plans for you and your art?
Hmmm. Right now, my dream is to make something deeply honest and real, and use my platform to imbue hope via music and writing. I spent a lot of time building community. Along with my own project, I want to have the resources to pour more into the indie music community with Treehouse (and other plans). I want to use what I build to lift up and champion artists. I want someone to walk away from something I make/create feeling a little more hopeful and certain about the world and goodness in it.
Is there a particular Genre would you classify your music as? What are inspiring artists/musical groups that have influenced your music and art?
Alternative folk? In the early days I was heavily inspired by The Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind, Foo Fighters, Mazzy Star, The Cranberries, The Cure, Cat Power, Fiona Apple, Tracy Chapman (to name just a few). More recently I’ve had the new Mitski album on repeat, a (criminally underrated) indie duo Tele Novella, Big Thief + Adrianne Lenker (one of the best writers of our time), SPEYSIDE by Bon Iver, and I’ve been so into the new Of Monsters and Men release.
What are your personal favorite works that you have already released?
I’ve loved everything I’ve done on this project so far. I think “Selfish Beast” is probably my favorite because of the subject matter and how close it feels to me.
What are some of the core philosophies within your music? Is there a specific message you wish your fans and audience to receive?
I think hope is the feeling that weaves through a lot of what I write. I know the power of art and turning the grit of being human into something beautiful and real. The connections we make when we share our creations, and ultimately our hearts, with others, can change the world, or at least someone’s world. I heavily fight against apathy and the idea that nothing matters. I care a lot, and I think that comes through in what I make.
Can you describe what this album means to you?
The songs I have out so far mean a lot to my journey as an artist. They were written while my kids were napping or after bedtime. Stealing moments to keep my creativity alive through a season in my life that was incredibly formative and all-consuming. I’m proud of myself for insisting on making things despite all the reasons it made no sense. I am mostly a mom when I am not making music. (I have a 2 and 4 year old). I would love to turn music into something that makes an income of course, so I can create more!
Where are you in your process right now?
Currently, I am focusing my attention on crowdfunding my next album. I am about halfway there and have a studio date booked on the 4th of May. This album is incredibly special to me. It explores how I see the world now as a mother, touching on humanity, politics, and the hope I feel for the future. The plan is to have a full string quartet on a few of the songs. It’s going to be magical.
My crowdfunding campaign is here if you want to be a part of the album: https://givebutter.com/MarLamar
What is your birthday/Zodiac sign?
23 Jan, I am an Aquarius. 🙂
Thank you so much! <3
It was an honor to Connect with Mar Lamar. I hope you all enjoy the Creative Process Journey within her new album. I hope we all put ourselves out there to achieve our Dreams. And I hope we can all grant ourselves permission to receive the Support we need in this life.
Live Deliciously. Love Authentically. And Always, Stay Wyrd.
