October – Tarot of the Month – Wealth & Abundance!
Hello fellow Light Bringers of the world! I’m excited to be back with a new tarot of the month for this fabulously magical month of October. Where has the year gone?! I can’t say I’m not happy it’s October, though. The weather here in Nashville has finally shifted to those Fall temps we Southerners love and appreciate, especially after the brutal summer heat. Bring on the sweatah’ weathah’!

This month’s tarot cards carry a compelling, encouraging message. I’ve stuck with pulling from my tried and true deck – The Herbal Astrology Oracle (by Adriana Ayales; Art by Josephine Klerks) – but I also pulled from my newest deck, The Wild Unknown (by Kim Krans). Both cards represent wealth, abundance, and a potential change to your circumstances around these aspects:

“The Tulasi Goddess sits proudly facing her beautiful Peacock, symbolizing heaven on Earth. She raises her arms with grace, aiming them like wands to catalyze magic and wealth. The fountain is centered between the Goddess and the Peacock, representing the wellspring created between Earth, the manifest world, and Heaven, the spirit world. Peacock embodies the medicine of auspiciousness, magic, and beauty, reminding us that we are the living gateway to the greatest of mysteries. Tulsi is here today to teach the key to Jupiter’s doorway (abundance and wisdom) is to live, create, and communicate from a place of wonder, innocence, and impeccability (Mercury), rather than doubt and confusion. Don’t be fooled by material possessions or the vanity often worshipped in the material world. Tune into deeper realities that abound around you; be spontaneous and celebrate your temple just as you are.”

“The Two of Pentacles signifies inevitable change. Since the Pentacles suit relates to earthly possessions, this usually means a new job or financial situation or a move. Even if you fear this change, it needs to happen and might even be fun. Face it with the grace of a newly formed butterfly … a world of possibilities balanced upon your delicate wings.”
Tulsi here invites us to recognize abundance, while the Two of Pentacles pushes us to consider how we remain open to it while circumstances shift. These two messages meld together so beautifully and deliver (to me) a really vital reminder that life is what we make of it, and it’s not the things that make life magical – it’s the way we choose to move through life, embracing the highs as well as the lows.
The Shadow Aspects of a message like this shows up in life as greed, vanity, ignorance … filling life with material possessions in hopes that having all those things will bring the happiness/joy so longed for …
When I think of how music ties into this, I think of artists like The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine … also artists like Florence and the Machine and Aurora … who have so beautifully (and sometimes heart-wrenchingly) put into words the challenge of trying to create and live an authentic, prosperous life while navigating this oftentimes harsh world.
The world is a vampire
Sent to drain
Secret destroyers
Hold you up to the flames
And what do I get
For my pain?
Betrayed desires
And a piece of the game

The Smashing Pumpkins
Freezin’, rests his head on a pillow made of concrete, again
Oh, feelin’, maybe he’ll see a little better set of days, ooh, yeah
Oh, hand out, faces that he sees time again ain’t that familiar, ooh, yeah
Oh, dark grin, he can’t help, when he’s happy, he looks insane, hm, yeah
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don’t know, so he chases them away (Ooh)
Oh, someday yet, he’ll begin his life again
Life again, life again

Just like the seed
I don’t know where to go
Through dirt and shadow, I grow
I’m reaching light through the struggle
Just like the seed
I’m chasing the wonder
I unravel myself
All in slow motion
You cannot eat money, oh no
You cannot eat money, oh no
When the last tree has fallen
And the rivers are poisoned
You cannot eat money, oh no …
This month’s message is one of hope and encouragement to look forward (and be open) to goodness. There are times in life when we find ourselves outrageously discouraged … times when we find ourselves fallen into dark days where the limiting beliefs and internal, negative voices are rampant … keeping us distraught and distracted from noticing (remembering) the magic that swirls around us – free to us always.
True wealth has nothing to do with money. (Though I know we all need money to live comfortably and survive in today’s society.) It’s often the smaller, seemingly insignificant things that make us feel rich in life: a child’s laughter, a random, encouraging text from a friend, the smell of coffee in the morning, a really good bite of food, an unexpected, genuine compliment from a stranger …
Life is, has always been, and will always be a balance of light and dark. Neither would really exist without the other. You only learn of light from the dark and vice versa. We will never be rid of challenges and obstacles, BUT, we will also never be rid of abundance and beauty. That’s the truth that tends to get pushed to the side on days we’re struggling.
So, this month, take pause to notice even the smallest bits of “wealth” around you. Remember: I’m not talking money! And remember to keep your heart open – with curiosity and gratitude.
Until next time, yee magical Starlights ~
