Popville’s 2nd Anniversary Pool Party

“Popville is Nashville’s vibrant hub for artists and creatives outside of country music. We create a welcoming space in this music community to connect, perform, and grow through curated live events, valuable resources, and networking opportunities!”
-Founder Nikki Forbes:
Welcome My Ghouls, Demons and Fellow Wyrd Ones! I had the absolute pleasure of attending Popville’s 2nd Anniversary Party at the Covered Bridge Recording Studio, hosted by the Fabulous Nikki Forbes. Popville truly is everything Pop inside the pits of Nashville. Nashville definitely wants pop, and that was most certainly demonstrated by the killer crowd that abandoned the Broadway Chaos to join us all in celebration of this Anniversary. It is quite refreshing to have a solid event choice outside of the never- ending country music tickets being shoved down our throats in Music City. While I am aware that there are plenty of scenes (Old and New) here in Nashville, the Mainstream of the City continues to emphasize Country Music (Stereotypical and Soulless Country Music) to raise the tourism rates and appease a Southern Aesthetic that they refuse to evolve or diversify. Nashville tends to believe that the only Pop Music you will find revolves around the earlier years of Taylor Swift. Some folks honor her PopStar Uprising. Others condemn her for shifting her sound. I believe it is important for us all to expose ourselves to every genre of music possible. The more we diversify, the more we bond our human connection. Popville does a phenomenal job at creating an environment for such exposure.

I began my night in my Rock Oracle Red and Black Pool Party Attire. Giddy over my Official Press Pass, I couldn’t overlook my Wayne’s World Moment. Some of y’all may have noticed my attempts at recreating such an Iconic Pop-Culture Scene at the gig. Some may see the content on my socials. Regardless, I have to note that this was a spectacular moment for me and my inner child. And what better place to imitate a Pop-Culture Signature than at Popville? There isn’t one! As I Wayne-ed my way to the Ticket-Box Stand with my Garth-ed Partner in Crime, I was impressed by the presentation of the venue. Covered Bridge Recording Studio is a lovely property, and everyone who decorated for the event did a fantastic job. My Beloved and I had a couple hiccups at the Box Office. Our Ticket Agent couldn’t find my name on the list. A minor bump in the road, as I have come to understand that I am a woman of many Names and Titles. Y’all may not know who I am, what to call me, or that I am all the same person from this pile of Tags. It can be quite frustrating deciphering which Deific Crown I have on for the day. However, after searching for 3 of my Millions of Names, we all decided my Press Pass was enough to give us passage into Popville City.

This Popville Pool Party was exactly how I would envision a night in Barbie Land. I adored the eclectic crowd. We had Mermaid Barbie, Tarot Barbie, Artist Barbie, Massage Barbie, Plant Barbie, Jewelry Barbie, Nail Barbie, Pop-Star Barbies and More! (There were plenty of Just Kens. Don’t Worry All of us Barbies Appreciated your Presence.) Jessie Roddy Opened up the Ceremony with her Beautiful and Soft Vocals. Perfect to begin a Girly Dance-Jam Sesh. Which was followed up with a group of Kens! (JK) Following Jessie Roddy, we had Rehaam. A sexy, groovy and jazzy performer that swooned us all with his/his band’s Cover of “Careless Whisper.” Prepping us all for the seductive Ginn Sings, with her Burlesque essence and Aguilera vocals. (As a side note, I want to compliment the smooth transition and handling of the technological difficulties that manifested. Show Business is full of obstacles.
Moving through them with Grace is all we can do. My hats off to you all for powering through!) Fashionably Late, we closed out the show with our Barbie Babe, Sadie Fine! A Creative Performer who meets allrequirements for the visuals and soundtrack I saw/heard in my head while playing dress up with my Barbies and Polly-Pockets. It was difficult to speak with the musicians/artists individually for more spotlight insights. As I was highlighting, this event was quite the party! Everyone was buzzing around and putting their efforts into this memorable performance. Keep your eye out for possible future Artist/Musician Spotlight Articles from Rock Oracle. This Community is perfect for anyone looking to Dance, to Party, to have Fabulous Fun and to Create Music/Art thatrepresents a moment in our Present Pop Culture. Popville Events feel like your favorite Y2K Rom-Coms and Iconic Cultural References. I felt a strong cross over between the Barbie Movie and Scooby-Doo Spooky Island. (Recall the Beach Scene with Daphne and Sugar Ray). It was intoxicating to see everyone laughing, dancing, being silly and letting loose. I adored all the Craft/Art Vendors along the fence line. Our World is full of Creative, Magickal and Powerful Souls. The Amusement was a Glorious example of what it means to Live Deliciously. If You want MORE POP! If You are looking for something Fabulous to do? If You’rewanting to Free Yourself of the Nashville Tourism Culture? If you simply want to Express yourself to the Nines?
